For Bloomberg BNA, Standaert focuses primarily on environmental issues, infrastructure developments, intellectual property rights, tax policy, trade and other regulatory policies impacting business on the national, regional, provincial and local level.
During his time in China, he has also written for The Washington Times, San Francisco Chronicle, China International Business, Knowledge@Wharton, Inter Press Service, The Globalist and The Huffington Post on these and other topics.
Over the past decade, Standaert has written everything from book-length fiction and non-fiction to long-form articles, profiles, interviews, breaking news journalism and book reviews from the U.S., Europe and now Asia.
After three years in Beijing, Standaert relocated to Shenzhen in July 2010 to open a bureau for Bloomberg BNA and where he now focuses on coverage of China, Hong Kong and the ASEAN region, particularly Malaysia and Indonesia.
